There are certain tasks that you don’t need to perform yourself. By setting it up so that these tasks are performed automatically, you will be more efficient. You can do this with macros – and you can record and edit macros with the handy GrassSoftware-developed application Macro Expert. Use the application to create and edit macros, to launch macros with a press of a hotkey, and to schedule macros to be run automatically.

You can install Macro Expert on top of numerous Windows editions, from Windows 7 all the way down to Windows 2000. To install the application, you will need to download and run a 3.4MB executable. Through the installation process you will be guided by a setup wizard. The whole thing will take little of your time.

There are several tabs at the top, on Macro Expert’s interface: Macros, Hotkeys, Schedulers, Triggers, and System Tray Menu. The Macros tab is selected by default when you launch the application; this means you will see a list of sample macros on the application’s main pane. Down at the bottom you will find a Temporary Macros, a Tools, and an Options button.

As mentioned above, Macro Expert comes with a few sample macros. Run these macros to see what they do, edit them to get a taste of what the application can do.

The Macro Expert application provides three ways of creating a new macro: Record New Macro, Create Blank Macro, and New Macro Wizard. The wizard asks you to pick between recording keystrokes and mouse activity to create a new macro and starting with a blank macro that you can edit. You can choose to trigger the macro with a key combo or to trigger it when a certain phrase is typed. There are also various other triggers you can set up to automatically run a macro. And speaking about automatically running macros, it must be mentioned that you can schedule them to take place at a specific time. Overall, you will find it fairly easy to create, customize, and run macros.

For a total of 21 days you can use Macro Expert for free and evaluate the functionality it has to offer.

Repetitive tasks that eat into your time and efficiency are not worth doing. Use Macro Expert to create and run macros; let the application perform these tasks for you.

Pros

The interface is nicely laid out and easy to figure out. Macro Expert comes with a few sample macros that you can play with. There’s a New Macro Wizard that will help you set up new macros. Trigger macros with a hotkey or when a certain phrase is typed; set up other triggers for launching macros; schedule macros to run at a specific time.
